DOCK-SHOCK

You are the visitor to this page

DOCK-SHOCK is a hydraulic fendering system capable of absorbing high energy with relatively low reaction loads. The advantages of the DOCK-SHOCK over conventional systems are as follows:

The DOCK-SHOCK can be constructed to meet any need and adjustable porting allows for the changing of the units characteristics at any time after installation. The DOCK-SHOCK Model DS50-20 is capable of absorbing up to 50 Ft-Kip of energy, which is equivalent to a 1500 ton barge impacting the pier with a perpendicular velocity of 1 Ft/Sec.

A typical installation is given in figure 1. This indicates a 1500 ton barge approaching the dock-shock at a 10 Degree angle. The barges forward speed could be as high as 5.75 Ft/Sec or 3.5 knots and DOCK-SHOCK Model DS50-20 could handle the impact with no damage to itself, the dock or the barge.

DOCK-SHOCK is designed to connect together to provide protection to the entire length of the pier or dock. The segments float along side the pier or dock and are held in place with cables or similar devices. The units consist of a steel structure, hydraulic cylinders, wearing surfaces and foam flotation. The structural members and hydraulic system are sealed from the environment by a steel shell.
